چکیده

In this work, we provide an approach for Modeling and Simulation (M&S) of crowds using Cellular Discrete EVent System Specification (Cell-DEVS). We present many examples of Cellular Discrete EVent System Specification entitybased crowd models, and we show how to use Cellular Discrete EVent System Specification for entity-based modeling and simulation of crowds. We provide an approach for using Cellular Discrete EVent System Specification theory in modeling and simulation of crowds, and we propose Cellular Discrete EVent System Specification entity-based models for modeling and simulation of one-, two-, and three-dimensional movement of crowds. We extend the models above, and propose a more advanced model for crowd movement in multi-level building. Furthermore, we use this model for simulation of building evacuations. We propose another advanced model for crowd modeling, and deploy the model in occupancy analysis of buildings. Simulation results verify the usability of the proposed models.

A simulation as a service methodology with application for crowd modeling, simulation and visualization

Crowd modeling and simulation (M&S) has been used to support the analysis of the behavior of crowds, in order to predict the impact of pedestrian movement and to test design alternatives. In recent years, crowd M&S has become more complex, and new technologies such as CAD (computer-aided design) and BIM (building information modeling) authoring tools are being used to support the process. There...

DEVSMO: an ontology for DEVS model with complex mathematical models

There are numerous modeling and simulation environments based on the DEVS formalism. Due to the incompatible modeling grammars, it has been a challenge to reuse DEVS models in different modeling tools. Existing XML-based model representations lack general expressions of the model behavior and only support one type of DEVS. In this paper, a modeling ontology named DEVSMO is proposed. DEVSMO uses...

A Study of Pedestrian Movement on Crosswalks Based on Chaos Theory

Walking, as an important transportation mode, plays a large part in urban transportation systems. This mode is of great importance for planners and decision-makers because of its impact on environmental and health aspects of communities. However, this mode is so complex in nature that makes it difficult to study or model. On the other hand, chaos theory studies complex dynamical nonlinear syste...

Distributed simulation of DEVS and Cell-DEVS models in CD++ using Web-Services

DEVS is a Modeling and Simulation formalism that has been widely used to study the dynamics of discrete event systems. Cell-DEVS is a DEVS-based formalism that defines spatial models as a cell space assembled of a group of DEVS models connected together. CD++ is a modeling and simulation toolkit capable of executing DEVS and Cell-DEVS models that has proven to be useful for executing complex mo...

Applying Cellular Automata and DEVS Methodologies to Digital Games: A Survey

Cellular automata were designed by John von Neumann in the 1940s, as a mathematical abstraction for modeling self-replicating algorithms. Since then, cellular automata have been widely studied theoretically and evolved into multiple variants. In the 1970s, Bernard P. Zeigler proposed a formalism rooted on systems theory principles, named DEVS (discrete-event systems specifications), which paved...
